This is one corner of a mural that went completely around a room which served as an office. The design was geometric in most places but on other walls was more free flowing. The four stripes on the left and three stripes on the right merged into other shapes and designs on the adjacent walls.

This house, already pretty worn and weathered when this drawing was done, is where my wife’s mother was born.

Conté on paper, 18″ X 14″
Whenever I visit my grandkids I always take along my set of colored pencils and a drawing pen or two. If we have enough time I’ll ask if they’d like me to draw something for them. On this trip the answer was, “a cow and a barn.”
Huh? Not exactly what I expected but I took on the task. As the drawing developed the response was, “that’s a silly cow.” Probably not what he was expecting either but he liked it. That’s the important thing.

Being the first to do something can be brave. It can also be unwise.
