Relax!

You have to admire those who, against the odds, have the will to strike out on their own. Also give credit to those who are ready to hurry into action to help others. But you have to respect the person who can keep it all in perspective.

So-o-o Funny!

This drawing of my Mom as a teen earned it’s title because that’s what she wrote across the photograph the drawing was inspired by.

Traveling Frogs Mural – Part 3 of 3

Asia and Africa are on the same wall but separated by a window. Oceania and South America are on the same wall but also separated by a window. This view tries to get Asia, Oceania and South America all in one photo.

Asia-Oceania-South_America

A frog in India tames an elephant. In China a frog pulls a rickshaw. Frogzilla rampages off the coast of Japan while a sailor frog tours the islands. An Australian frog finds comfort in a kangaroo. Over in South America a frog studies the critters of the rainforest and a gaucho tugs at a llama. The old steam train was added later and includes a monkey passenger, a nod to the Monkey Mural.

Traveling Frogs Mural – Part 2 of 3

The photos of the mural showing Europe and Africa are actually of two separate walls. The Africa and Asia murals are on the same wall but separated by a window so it’s easier to show them this way.

Europe-Africa

The European frogs include a Scotsman playing the pipes, an artist in France, a dancing Russian, a damsel-saving knight and, giving a nod to my ancestors, Attila the Frog.

OK, the hot air balloon doesn’t have much to do with Africa. It just seemed that something needed to be floating there. The frogs in African ride a camel in Egypt, ¬†go on a photo-safari and live in a quaint village.

Traveling Frogs Mural – Part 1 of 3

By request I had previously offered up some closer views of the various monkeys in the Monkey Mural. So, now I’ll do the same for the Traveling Frogs Mural. The frogs are a lot smaller in scale than the monkeys are. The mural covers all four walls.

The largest painting is that of North America.

North-America

There are too many frogs so I split them into two groups; those in the 48 contiguous states and those who aren’t (sorry, Hawaii and Alaska). The US frogs include a biker in the northwest, a Southwest pilot in Arizona, a hobo hitch-hiking across the south, frogs immortalized within Mount Rushmore and the Statue of Liberty and a bull-riding cowboy in Texas.

USA-Frogs

The other frogs on this wall include an Eskimo emerging from an igloo, a dog-sledding Mountie, one enjoying the Pacific coast of Mexico and a hula-clad windsurfer. A Viking explores from the adjacent wall, a pirate trolls the Caribbean and, just of the heckuvit, an Alien frog hides behind the door.

My aunt:
God blessed me to have her in my life. All my thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Sometimes we behave like the labels people give us.
