Another drawing inspired by a photograph taken by my son (check out his site at I wanted less contrast than in the original photo so I used a textured charcoal paper. This is in color pencil except I painted the thin strands of the onions using acrylic. It didn’t turn out as well as I wanted it to but it’s passable. Live and learn.

Back from a recent trip to visit grandkids. The grandson was ready for me. Immediately asked if I would draw a picture of a Trojan fighting a bison in an arena. Out comes the sketch pad and color pencils.

Meanwhile, the granddaughter looks at the last cartoon (New Princess: and wants me to scoot the drawing over so she can see the rest of Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. Cute.

Cougar Sports

It’s been 50 years since the Bryan Adams Class of 1962-63 competed on the courts, fields and diamonds of Dallas. They fared pretty well, too, winning the city championship in baseball and being co-champions in football. In commemoration I was asked to come up with a “collage” depicting some of the Cougar sports. One of those scrawny kids is being honored by the Dallas ISD by having the girls’ gym renamed in his honor. A well deserved honor it is since Gary Blair went on to coach several state champions in women’s basketball at South Oak Cliff High School and a national championship at Texas A&M and is in the Texas Sports Hall of Fame.
