Grand Memories – Toy Box

Sunday, February 4th, 2018

A few years ago I was commissioned to do illustrations for a book titled, Creating Grand Memories – A Toolbox for Today’s Grandparents by Becky Yates and Charlotte Barnhart. I don’t think it’s available anymore. My line drawings were placed at the beginning of each chapter. I decided to, when possible, use photos from my own family as sources. I won’t post all seven drawings at once. I’ll span them out over a few weeks.

This first one, the toy box, was actually taken from a time when my grandson and I were “licking the bowl.” You can see an original drawing of that at Licking the Bowl with GrandDad. I haven’t lost that much hair yet but I’m working on it. The girl in this image is just a random kid for composition and diversity.

This drawing was also used for the cover of the book so I did a color version.
