We took a lot of photos while at the Houston zoo. I combined several to come up with this drawing for Creating Grand Memories.

G-Kid#2 took up the trumpet and is doing exceptional well at it. For his birthday I surprised him with the made up drawing. Done with Adobe Sketch on my iPad.

Loft Playroom Mural

Sunday, October 14th, 2018

The GrandKids were wanting a new mural for their recently remodeled playroom. When they were little I could paint whatever I wanted and they’d be happy. Now they’re old enough to make specific requests. And I mean SPECIFIC.

GrandDaughter wanted a volleyball player silhouette with the background melding from the blue of the walls to the green.

GrandSon wanted game system logos with a digital looking transition.

Then they decided they wanted additional smaller images around the room. GrandDaughter came up with a scenario. Hefty Smurf and Smurfette holding up a volleyball, phone rings, he answers, she can’t hold up the volleyball by herself. Meanwhile, Papa Smurf looks on.

GrandSon wanted vintage video games scattered around: Pac-Man, Donkey Kong and Q*Bert.

A Friend’s Grandson

Sunday, October 7th, 2018

I did this sketch a few years ago for a friend of mine. It’s her grandson when he was about three. I did a second drawing of him later. It’s posted at: http://sircolby.com/drawings/second-base-runner/

Triker

Sunday, July 8th, 2018

I had a completely different plan for this drawing but almost immediately realized it wasn’t going to work. It might have had I started on gray or colored paper. But, oh well. Here it is.

Heart of Flowers

Sunday, June 3rd, 2018

My youngest granddaughter decided to completely redo her bedroom. That included painting over the murals I painted which were a bunch of frogs doing things all around the world. Actually, she inherited the Frog Mural from her brother when she took over his room (see the link below).

It seemed natural that for her birthday I should paint something else for her. Not a mural this time, but a painting. That way she can put it anywhere in the room she wants. Or not at all if that’s what she wants. I had no idea what to paint and somehow ended up with a bunch of flowers in the shape of a heart. That way, whenever she looks at the painting she’ll be reminded that I love her.
