Smack!

In the olden days I would draw, ink and color a cartoon on a single piece of paper. Technology, since then, has allowed me to draw sketches on a piece of scratch paper, scan them into my computer and do all the “inking” and coloring digitally. I just bought myself a new iPad Pro. This was my very first attempt at doing the entire thing digitally.

I drew the individual frames in Adobe Sketch and used Creative Cloud to send them from my iPad to my desktop iMac. It worked. I did only minor tweaking to the drawings and arranged them in Photoshop. There is still a learning curve but overall I’m happy with my initial drawing.

Cyclops!

Here’s another one of those posters I did with Marks-A-Lot to advertise the movies we showed the kids at the recreation center. The black ink is faded and the poster board is yellowing and stained.

It Came From Beneath The Sea!

Back in my previous life we would show movies to the kids at the recreation center. This was before tapes and DVDs. Before Blockbuster, Netflix, etc. We’d use a biggo projector and actual 16mm film and show them on the wall until we built a homemade canvas screen. The kids would sit on tumbling mats we spread around on the floor.

I would make posters to let them know what movie was coming up. I managed to save a couple of them. Here’s one. The colors have faded and the poster board is turning yellow.

Learning to Swim

An idea popped into my head: Baby fish start their lives already knowing how to swim, its instinctive. Human babies work on walking for months, even longer. What if you’re half fish/half human? I depicted a Mermaid Mom teaching her little boy how to swim. Do we call him a Merboy; a Merkid?

I thought I had already posted this last June but I couldn’t find it. It was another granddaughter request. She wanted herself and her cousin, something about both Disneyland and Disney World.

Godzilla vs Grandson

Grandkid who just had a birthday is into Godzilla among the other usual pursuits of an eleven year old boy. I created this Super Hero poster for him to go with his 50-DVD collection of cheesy sci-fi movies. I threw in a box set of Three Stooges movies just for the heck of it.
