Digital illustration. American soldier and actor, Audie Murphy. Born in Kingston, Texas to sharecroppers. His father deserted the family and his mother died when he was only 16. He quit school in the fifth grade to pick cotton.
After Pearl Harbor he falsified his birthdate to enlist but was turned down for being underweight. He made it into the Army and became one of America’s most decorated combat soldiers.
He had a 21 year acting career.
Tragically he was killed in a private plane crash in 1971 when he was only 45.
