Forty days. Forty nights. Still no sign of rain.

Hurricane Harvey reminded me of a cartoon I posted several years ago. I rarely re-post anything but it seemed appropriate. While my friends and family in central Texas and along the Gulf coast are being hammered by a record-setting storm I’m having to go out and water my patio plants.

We offer our prayers to those impacted by this hurricane and to safety of the first responders.

I was cleaning out some files and came across this old cartoon I did way back in 1990 that was published in The Dallas Morning News. I scanned it from the faded newspaper.
Sadly, it still applies today.

In the olden days I would draw, ink and color a cartoon on a single piece of paper. Technology, since then, has allowed me to draw sketches on a piece of scratch paper, scan them into my computer and do all the “inking” and coloring digitally. I just bought myself a new iPad Pro. This was my very first attempt at doing the entire thing digitally.
I drew the individual frames in Adobe Sketch and used Creative Cloud to send them from my iPad to my desktop iMac. It worked. I did only minor tweaking to the drawings and arranged them in Photoshop. There is still a learning curve but overall I’m happy with my initial drawing.

It’s too complicated. There are too many words. But I drew it anyway.
