GrandGirls and GrandBoys

I just spent the weekend with two of my grandkids. One boy, one girl. Each one asked me to draw something for them. Look carefully at each drawing and see if you can tell who asked for what.

Princess’ Pet Dragon

Another grandkid request. I deflected the calls for a drawing that was basically a repeat of the Dragon Princess Tea Party (August, 2010) but she insisted we have a “Cinderella” princess, a friendly dragon and a castle. The dragon should be blue and have a blue bow. What? Later she added that the dragon should be a rainbow dragon. Again, what? Here is what I came up with. I didn’t have a scanner available and had to take photos of the drawing but you get the idea.

Pirates and Sea Serpents

The latest grandkid request was for me to draw a pirate ship. I can’t just draw a ship. It has to be doing something. So I added the battle with a sea serpent. Then I had to explain what a sea serpent is.

Dragon Princess Tea Party

I asked the grandkids, “What do you want me to draw?” The three year old granddaughter said a princess tea party. The six year old grandson wanted two dragons fighting. This is what I came up with.

The three year old wanted me to add a “friendly” dragon. He’s at the bottom.

Darth Bather

Another grandkid request:
“What do you want me to draw?”
“Darth Vader!”
“What do you want him to be doing?”
“Fighting a good guy.”

I started throwing out mundane alternatives like, “How about Darth Vader eating macaroni and cheese?” “How about Darth Vader hopping up and down on one foot?” “And eating macaroni and cheese?” We’d giggle and then come up with other things just as silly. We finally settled on Darth Vader taking a bath.
