Madge

I was watching an old movie on TV and noticed an actor I thought was really pretty so I looked her up on the internet. I came across a photo and thought it would be fun to draw. I was more interested in practicing than in doing a portrait so the likeness is a tad off. But here she is, Madge Evans. I think this pose fits in as well today as it did in the 1930s.

After I finished theĀ charcoal drawing I wondered what it would look like if I used a smudge stick to smooth it out. So I decided to find out. As usual, there were plusses and minuses. Nice results in some areas, disappointments in others.
